Featured Gardens

Find the wonders behind some home and community gardens gates, each showcasing plants, techniques, and designs that suit the Gold Coast growing climate.

Gaia’s Eden

  • Step into a subtropical wonderland on 600 square metres. Sweet potato covers the ground, passionfruit lines the wall and bananas tower overhead. Shaun and Mariko are producing an abundance of organic produce on a suburban block in Burleigh.

As you weave your way around you'll see water-saving design, native bees and plenty of corners to rest and play.

Permaculture in Palmy

  • As you pull up at Permaculture in Palmy, you'll think this is a garden like all others, but once you wander out the back you realise it's something else altogether!

James is conducting a backyard science experiment of sorts; with mushroom growing, composting bioreactor and aquaponics!

If you've ever been curious about these growing techniques, make sure you leave time to have a chat with him about how it all works.

Athena’s Patch

  • With the help of Syntropic Solutions, Raffi has built a food forest that will sustain his family's needs for years to come.

Forest rows that run north to south maximise the amount of sunlight received through the day, while different layers of plants complement each other's growth while also supporting soil health.

Varsity Veggies Community Garden

  • Tucked in behind the local community centre, Varsity Vegies is a beautiful growing space offering members their own garden bed to grow the organic food of their dreams.

With many people living in apartments these days and unable to grow on their own patch, Varsity Veggies is a welcoming environment for locals to come together, learn about healthy soil and food growing and create community resilience with their harvests.

Set among Brazilian cherry, banana and jaboticaba trees, this delightful space is also the new home of composting hub Seed the Ground, who are tackling Gold Coast food waste one bucket at a time.

Ediblescapes

  • Ediblescapes is a community garden with a difference. When you step into the maze of food forest rows, you're embraced by layers of food plants on all sides.

The local community, led by Jorge, researches sustainable food production and soil building techniques and apply them here to create an abundance of produce without the use of synthetic fertilisers.

Mudbrick Herb Cottage

  • Mudbrick Herb Cottage is an inspiring educational resource for gardeners of all levels.

Offering over 400 organically grown herb varieties, the nursery invites visitors to explore traditional and exotic herbs while learning about organic cultivation practices.

Stroll around enchanting herb gardens and enjoy the sites and scents of herbs.

On the trail day, visitors can enjoy garden walks and informative talks.

Southern Beaches Community Gardens

  • Just off the highway at Tugun you'll find the expansive Southern Beaches Community Garden.

Open to the public everyday, but on trail day the growers will be offering hourly tours around the allotment garden beds, the composting hub, food forest and sharing tips and tricks for you to try at home.

My Backyard Patch

  • Ant and Kirsty have transformed a shared lawn space into a microfarm that includes a series of raised garden beds, composting and backyard chickens.

Herbs, citrus and seasonal fruit and veg can always be found and are often shared around the neighbourhood.

Stallholders

Along the trail, you will have the chance to connect with amazing stallholders offering specialty products and services to supercharge your food growing journey!

Eden Seeds

  • Your go-to for the finest heirloom seeds in Australia! Since 1986, they've been preserving old Australian varieties using organic methods.

Experience superior taste and nutrition with their timeless seeds.

Earthfood

  • All-in-one certified organic plant and soil improver powered by live microbes. Using Earthfood will promote a lifestyle of natural, sustainable food, edible food gardens, fruit trees and floral gardens that will be the pride of any green thumb.

Jasmine Urban Farm

  • Excited to offer new products grown, dried, and blended on the farm. Using Heirloom seeds and no chemicals or synthetic fertilisers, they're all about biodiversity and quality.

Urban Food Solutions

  • Urban Food Solutions, the major sponsor of this year's Gold Coast Edible Garden Trail, is all about turning outdoor spaces into awesome edible gardens bursting with veggies, herbs, and flowers.

You'll find their crew stationed at select locations on the trail, just waiting to chat with you about all your gardening projects and dreams.
